Useful concept in physics, based on an
apparent (but not real) force. It may be
regarded as a force that acts radially
outwards from a spinning or orbiting object,
thus balancing the centripetal force (which
is real). For an object of mass m moving with
a velocity v in a circle of radius r, the
centrifugal force F equals mv^2/r (outwards).
